Dynamic Rope Workshop & Straps Workshop by Yiaki

Dynamic Rope Workshop:

Following a proper warm up and body activation on the floor and afterwards on the rope, we will begin with some static movements and conditioning exercises. Then, we will use beats to approach these positions and by using the momentum, we will work on creating dynamic combos on the rope. Furthermore, we will analyze the spinning technique and the rolling up technique, static and dynamic.

The workshop is open level. Progressions for different movements will be shown, and everyone can go as far as they feel comfortable!

May 3rd &4th | 17.30-20.00

One day: 80€

Two days: 120€

Straps Workshop:

Following a proper warm-up and body activation on the floor and the straps, we will begin with static technique. Our focus will be on maintaining good body posture, which allows us healthier movement execution.

Next, we will analyze dynamic technique, exploring both two-arm and one-arm swings.

We will work on different movements that will help us understand the coordination and timing needed while performing dynamics.

Having prior experience with straps would be helpful, particularly if you are comfortable inverting multiple times with straight arms and are familiar with hooks and the flexicat (skin the cat). Progressions for different movements will be shown, and everyone can go as far as they feel comfortable!

Rohmaterial Open CALL 2025

Call for submissions: “Rohmaterial” 2025

In 2025, Katapult is launching a new format called “Rohmaterial” to showcase early-stage circus or interdisciplinary shows. We’re looking for 2-3 shows (20-30 minutes each) for four dates in 2025. The show can be a work-in-progress or an excerpt, but we require a full-length video.

Shows with 1-3 performers can apply. Due to our limited budget, the salary will be 310€ net per person. The call is open to all Berlin-based artists. BIPoC, queer and artists with disabilities are very welcome to apply.

We have two open calls for 2025 dates:

  • Deadline: 03.03.2025 for shows on 26.04. & 14.06.
  • Deadline: 30.06.2025 for shows in August and October.

You will receive a response one week after the deadline.

The Katapult team will select shows based on quality, discipline, number of artists, and overall atmosphere to create a diverse mix for each evening.
