FLYING DANCE EDUCATION FOR KIDS & TEENS

‘Join in and discover dancing in the air!’

Aerial & Vertical Dance is an interdisciplinary, performative form of movement that explores the limits of movement. What happens when gravity is altered?
In this unique dance style, the dancers wear a climbing harness that is connected to a fixed point on the ceiling. At the same time, they remain in contact with the floor, creating an exciting dialogue between flying and dancing.
We combine aerial dance with elements of contemporary & modern dance, acrobatics and contact improvisation – all in a creative, safe and playful atmosphere.

The class will be taught in German.

TEACHING TEAM
Iris Gonzalez and Karla L. Mendoza

Their shared passion for aerial & vertical dance and passing on this knowledge to new generations is what connects them. Both began their careers in contemporary dance and later discovered vertical dance as a new form of expression.

They have worked for years with VoLA StageArt (Anett Simmen) on numerous performative and educational projects.

They deepened their training with renowned artists from the vertical dance scene such as Wanda Moretti & Simona Forlani, Kate Lawrence, Lindsey Butcher, Magalie Lanriot, Roel Seeber, Juan Leiba and others.

In 2023, their pedagogical collaboration began with certification as Vertical Dance Teachers (Moretti Method). Since then, they have been teaching children, teenagers and adults. They have also developed their own projects: Dandelion – an aerial dance theatre piece for children and young people – and Xinde Ché, a vertical dance short film.

Together, as dancers, choreographers and teachers, they are committed to the further development of vertical dance – in search of new ways in the air and the connection between body, space and gravity.
