Katapult is offering 3 residency weeks at a symbolic participation fee of €50 per selected project.
#1 Residency: 24.-28.08.2026 in Studio 2 (aerial productions/cyr or chinese pole)
#2 Residency: 16.-20.11.2026 in Studio 1 (circus and contemporary dance productions)
#3 Residency: 7.-11.12.2026 in Studio 1 (circus productions)
Who can apply?
Professional performing artists from all backgrounds and circus disciplines who are:
- Based in Berlin
- Developing a performance project
- Looking for rehearsal space to advance their work
Selection process
All applications will first be checked for eligibility.
The final selection will be based on the following priorities:
- Suitability of the project for the available spaces
- Projects will be matched with the appropriate studio (e.g. aerial projects in the aerial studio).
- Representation
- If possible, one selected residency will go to a FLINTA* production and one to a production with a focus on diversity.
- Need for support
- Preference will be given to projects that have not yet received sufficient funding.
Please note: The artistic quality of your project idea is not part of the selection criteria. Once the projects are checked and sorted based on these eligibility criterias, the selection will be made by raffle.

#1 Residency: Aerial productions
24.-28.08.2026 in Studio 2
10:00-16:00 every day
For this residency we’ll choose a company or production with rigging/aerial needs, or a production with Chinese pole or a production that needs more than 5m height.
In other words: If you don’t have any of these specific needs, please directly apply for one of the other two residencies. Important: The space needs to be cleared always at the end of each day. This means we cannot accept any productions with huge permanent stage design.
Make sure your technical needs match the offerings of Studio 2.
During this residency in Studio 2 you’ll have access to:
- dance floor area 11,5×14,2m 163,3m²
- 32 certified rigging points from which 4 points can be used parallel with 1KN WL each.
- The height varies from 5 – 6.4m
- We have 5 crash mats, a ladder for rigging
- Dance vinyl floor
- Soundboks Bluetooth Speaker
- Theater light available, but not included. Can be arranged at an extra cost (30€/h with technician, if needed)
#2 Residency: Circus and contemporary dance productions
16.-20.11.2026 in Studio 1
Full days (24h-residency)
You’ll have the studio for yourself with 24h access. Contemporary circus and dance productions are welcome. Productions with big stage designs are welcome, but they cannot be heavy due to the soft dance floor below. The temperatures might settle around 17 degrees. Please estimate for yourself, if that’s suitable for your project.
Make sure your technical needs match the offerings of Studio 1.
During this residency in Studio 1 you’ll have access to:
- dance floor area: 9,8×11,5m = 112m²
- 5m high ceiling
- Soft floor covered with dance vinyl
- Soundboks Bluetooth Speaker
#3 Residency: Circus productions
7.-11.12.2026 in Studio 1
Full days (24h-residency)
Make sure your technical needs match the offerings of Studio 1. You’ll have the room for yourself with 24h access. Productions with big stage sets are welcome. The temperatures might settle between 15-17 degrees. Please estimate for yourself, if that’s suitable for your project.
