It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Katapult at the end of December 2026 after 10 years.
This year marks the ten year anniversary of the project, and we are extremely happy with what has been accomplished in the last decade. We create a compilation of graphics for your and our enjoyment to show what we achieved in the past years.

The sad news
The ongoing difficult economic situation has made it impossible for us to continue without significant financial risk, so we have taken the hard decision to bring the project to a controlled close at the end of this year. Despite increased year-on-year funding from the “Einjahrige Produktionsort Förderung” from Senat Department for Culture and Community of Berlin, we have been severely impacted by the general arts funding cuts in recent years, and in particular the closure of the Kulturraum Kontingente programme. Additionally, the yearly cycle of funding means it is impossible to plan for the future and to build on a long-term and meaningful scale.
We believe strongly in the value of cultural and creative spaces, and we believe that the people who organize such spaces should be entitled to the same conditions as the people who use them. We want to thank everyone for the usage of the space and the collaboration over the years – we value the work of all artists, producers, activists, lobbyists, programmers and facilitators for pushing the circus scene and holding space for others.
We will be making a public statement in the near future. It would be a great loss for circus and culture in Berlin, if the space would turn back into a warehouse. Please get in touch, if you have a mission and the financial means to take over the space.
We want to thank the Senat Department for Culture and Community of Berlin for their various forms of funding and support of the Katapult project since 2018, and we wish other cultural spaces all the best in their endeavours. We still have 6 months to create interesting projects, events and facilitate residencies. Therefore, we encourage our networking partners to use the space to its fullest for the rest of the year, and celebrate a decade of art and creation with us for as long as possible.

A closure party will follow at some point in November. In the next weeks we prepare a list of inventory that will be for second hand purchase and pick up in December 2026.
