Presence and Circus Dramaturgy workshop with Pau Portabella
6-8 September, 2019
Wilhelminenhofstr 91, 12459 Berlin
The aim of the workshop is to give new tools to the students in scenic presence, circus dramaturgy and creative processes.
– Presence:
Individual and group exercises to work on presence, listening, consciousness and other tools in order to get a better general presence on stage. In this part of the laboratory, technical circus work will arrive gradually. It starts with the more theatrical part and then the circus technique is developed.
– Dramaturgy with circus:
This part of the laboratory is focused on how to apply dramaturgy to circus. The circus technique is a very important part of our scenic language. We express ourselves or transmit meaning through words, gestures or our body attitude, just to name a few. But we can also express ourselves through the circus technique and the message does not have to be received only in a rational way.
– Creation:
Develop different tools to use in creation.
We will work with improvisation, writing methods and different ways to construct ideas and scenes to create a circus number or a show, individually and collectively.
Intended learning outcomes:
– Gain conscience, presence, listening and other important concepts for being on stage.
– Learn how to perform with real emotions and not only with mask emotions.
– Learn different ways to use circus based on the dramaturgy.
– Develop new tools to use in show creations.
