KATAPULT CREATION CONTINGENT

Discounted Studio Time Packages at Katapult

Katapult will offer discounted packages for the use of its studios. The time is available exclusively for artistic rehearsals and creation processes in the fields of contemporary circus, dance, and theatre.

Background: For a short time Kulturräume Berlin had a wonderful program named Kulturraum Kontingente (KRK), through which artists could rent creation spaces for 5€ per hour. At the same time the venues received the difference in the actual rental cost of the space through subsidy from the KRK.

Unfortunately this programme was cancelled abruptly at the end of 2024. This has seriously damaged the artistic sector. Together with cuts for project funding and higher space rental prices (as artists now need to pay the non-subsidised price), the free scene of the Berlin arts sector has seen a drastic decline in new productions.

At Katapult our financial situation does not allow room for decreasing our rental costs, but in order to support the free scene we want to offer a few time slots per month at a reduced rate, which we hope to cover through other streams of income.
